The 7 Ancient Wonders of Evansville

In 1988 the definitive list of 7 Wonders was published in the Official Willy-on-the-Ohio Program and Yearbook. Sadly, many of these ancient wonders are no longer with us. A visit to the Willy-on-the-Ohio archives revealed the old mechanical art boards for the Program and Yearbook which, after much Photoshopping (they really didn't age well), are presented here for your enjoyment and consideration.

Where are these wonders today?

  • The Entire West side of Evansville – it's still here, but the joke has sort of played itself out.
  • Marcia Yockey – RIP Marcia. The Yock passed in 2000.
  • Lost and Found Hubcaps – demolished to make way for an Enterprise Zone Pole Barn structure.
  • Indiana with Eagle – Vanished. Whereabouts unkown.
  • Giant Lawnmower – Gone, dismantled after collapsing under it's own weight.
  • Giant Nazi Santa from Hell – Deteriorating to the point collapse, he was taken down and dumped in a field to be forgotten. Fortunately, a group of visionaries found the fiberglass carcass and rehabilitated the jolly old elf, erecting him in his current location. He is no longer a nazi, and no longer from hell.
  • Giant Pink Elephant with Martini Glass – This one still exists, but was found to actually reside in Gibson County. Disqualified on a technicality.
